On My Manchester Bucket List

What to do when you're broke but still want to travel and see the world on a budget? Create a bucket list for your hometown of course! Here are some things to do in Manchester

As anyone who has been reading this blog for longer than five minutes will know, I am no stranger to bucket lists. I don’t think a single day goes by without me adding yet another destination to my ever-expanding list of places I want to visit some day. Surprisingly enough though, trying to balance an out of control bucket list with a savings account isn’t the easiest task in the world…

Since I love sharing the best places to visit in Manchester and my purse is currently much lighter than I’d like it to be, I thought I’d meet myself somewhere in the middle and write myself a hometown bucket list. These are the things to do in and around Manchester that I still haven’t got round to trying. It’s not like I’ve been living here almost three years or anything…

Winnats Pass

Get snap happy at Winnats Pass

Sure this is a post about things to do in Manchester but with Derbyshire just a  short car journey or train ride away it would be doing it a disservice not to include it here. I’ve only recently started venturing into the Peak District and I’m so excited to explore more of it.

Visit the Blue John Cavern

I had no idea this place existed until I read about it on Atlas Obscura recently, but it looks beautiful!

Go for vegan brunch at The Deaf Institute

I’m in the process of writing a guide to the best vegan restaurants in Manchester, so all in the name of research you understand…

Visit the cat cafe

I’m still not sure about how I feel about the idea of cat cafes but since I’m spending my life with someone who has a severe cat allergy my life is devoid of feline companions.

Go for cocktails at Cloud 23

I can take or leave champagne but I feel like I won’t be a true Manc until I’ve got drunk in Beetham Tower.

Walk the Bridgewater Canal

Because surely there’s more to the canal system than scary hissing geese and the Manchester pusher?

I also wanted to include watching Liverpool thrash United at Old Trafford, but let’s keep things realistic for now…

Do you have a hometown bucket list? Maybe you can recommend some of the things to do in Manchester that I might have missed?
